Yeah, I know. I’ve been very, very quiet lately.
So quiet that the only thing you’ve been getting is
a eulogy for Adam Schlesinger and my weekly companion piece for my Canadian pod brother Des Reddick’s Dread Media.
This sudden change in the Status Quo--a change that I am positive will alter our society irrevocably when it’s over, if it’s over--has hit me hard. I find that my creative juices are thoroughly dried up at the moment, which is a reflection of my illness. I’ve never felt this hopeless in a long time. I’m at this point that I feel our country has ceased being a democracy. Every time I venture out, I become more and more saddened when I think of all the small businesses that will never re-open, all the barriers that we’re putting up between us that won’t come down easily. I keep thinking of comic books I read in the 70‘s that depicted the future as a hostile place where everyone had to wear face masks to prevent toxins from killing them. I have begun having difficulty figuring out what day is it.
We are living in the End Times, and with a whimper.
I have recorded some podcasts--an episode of
The Honeywell Experiment with special guests Jim and Theresa from
Hypnogoria, some segments with Des for Dread Media--and there’s something else I’ve been doing, though, something I started doing as a joke. But people seem to like it, and you’re invited.
I’ve led a varied life, and one of the the things I’ve done in the past is act as a karaoke host. It wasn’t very long--I only hosted a few times, and spent the rest of my tenure as the assistant to a host in what was, quite frankly, a toxic symboitic friendship. But there was a span of years where I spent a lot of my time in bars singing (not very well) and encouraging others to sing.
So what started as me giggling
at the thought of attempting a rendition of Rammstein’s ‘Du Hast’ led to a
second round where I paid tribute to Schlesinger. I livestreamed them on Facebook, and since people showed up for these silly things, I set up a poll for what theme people would like me to base my next karaoke set around.
The ones who voted chose
White Men With Dreads.
So please
join me on Facebook tomorrow April 17th at 10pm EST for a set of Korn, Counting Crows, Rob Zombie and whoever else I can fit into this ridiculous category. I am willing to take requests, although I do ask that you put a little in my
Ko-Fi Account as this is my only source of income at this time. And if I get $75 of one-time donations, I will invite my donators to a private Inappropriate Interactive Karaoke Party where we can hang
I hope to see you there. And I hope to produce...something...very, very soon.
