Phase Moon of...THE HONEYWELL EXPERIMENT!

This month I introduce my lab monkey to My UK Correspondents, Jim and Theresa Moon!  Jim and Theresa take a break from maintaining The Great Library of Dreams to discuss 1971‘s The Blood on Satan’s Claw.  Join us as we explain how Piers Haggard was ordered by a third-rate British movie studio to take a portmanteau film and make it a single narrative horror tale....and ended up making this amazingly creepy, sensual and transgressive period piece that has influenced many people--including Sherlock's Mark Gattis!  This may be the last major film in The Golden Age of British Horror, and we cover it in detail.

Meanwhile, Over At Dread Media....#666

It’s finally here--the satanically sinful, demonically delicious episode 666!  And to give the devil his due, Des Reddick has interviewed over thirty friends and horror pros about their favorite cinematic Lucifer!

Since there are far, far too many movies discussed, below you’ll find a featurette on the world’s most congenial satanist, Loudwire talking Satanism in Heavy Metal, a countdown on the best cinematic devils, an essay on the origins of Lucifer, the complete first album of Jinx Dawson’s band Coven (arguably the first heavy metal album--sorry, Ozzy) and music from Lucifer!

Dig those trident tones!

Meanwhile, Over At Dread Media....#665

On this, the episode before the absolute hellacious hilarity that is Episode 666 (and we’re not joking, folks; you’re going to be awhile), we present some peculiar houses!  First off, Des and Duane look at Bernard Rose’s 1988 dark fantasy Paperhouse.  Then, to commemorate the passing of the great Fred Willard, I look at the mo-cap kid’s horror film Monster House.  Plus Des gives his thoughts on what may end up being a 2020 Best Picture nominee, The Invisible Man!

The trailers are below, as are an interview with Rose, a featurette on Monster House’s motion-capture process, and music from Helena and Bitter Kids!

Meanwhile, Over At Dread Media....#664

As we wait for the demonic delights of Episode 666, we devote an episode to good ol’ fashion Grindhouse Psychos!  First, Des and Duane go into the swamp for Tobe Hooper’s sophmore effort, Eaten Alive. Then Rich The Monster Movie Kid wanders the much missed streets of a New York City that no longer exists in William Lustig’s seminal Joe Spinell showcase Maniac.

The trailers are below, as are features on the love alligators have for golf courses, Joe Spinell quoting Shakespeare on the legendary Joe Franklin Show, and music by Febueder and Roadside Hundred (covering ‘Maniac,’ a song Michael Sembello originally wrote for this film before rewriting it and selling it to the producers of Flashdance!)

....and because mentioning Michael Sembello makes me think of one package of cheesy awesomeness, I’ve added his follow-up to ‘Maniac,’ ‘Automatic Man.’

You’re welcome.

Get ready for some Lovecraftian Horror as Des and I review Richard Stanley’s long-awaited comeback, The Color Out Of Space!  Then Des give you his Top Five Lovecraft Stories He’d Like Stanley To Adapt Next!

The trailer is below, as is an interview with Stanley, a making of featurette, a reading of the original story and music from Hot Pink Hangover and Ningen Isu!

Meanwhile, Over At Dread Media....#662

Go to the Devil this week as this episode focuses on some diabolical movies.  First up, Des and Duane look at Chelsea Stardust’s 2019 horror comedy Satanic Panic.  Then I take a look at the last horror film produced by Hammer in its original run (and pay tribute to Honor Blackman) in 1976‘s To The Devil...A Daughter.

The trailers are below, as are a brief discussion of the actual ‘satanic panic’ epidemic of the 80‘s, a documentary on Dennis Wheatley and music by Feed Me and P.J. Harvey

Phase SG of...THE HONEYWELL EXPERIMENT!

Here at the OcaDecaGonaGon, we pay our respects to a Great, Great Man in the field of genre cinema.  Stuart Gordon succumbed to the Corona Virus, which prompted me to make my lab monkey watch his Sports-Film-With-Giant-Robots Robot Jox!  Thrill to the low budget future vision wrapped in a good ol’ fashioned sports melodrama!  Thrill to the grizzled veteran and the plucky newcomer getting together to vanquish their stereotypically monstrous opponent! Thrill to the wicked cool stop-motion robot fighting fashioned by Dave Allen!  Tremble as we get derailed and Chris and I grumble over the direction two of the most popular geek franchises have been going.

Get into the cockpit and enter the arena here.
