THE 31 CHARACTERS 31 DAYS CHALLENGE DAY TWO

This is month is intended to raise money for RAINN, the organization that help survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

Later this year, I will be starting a project tentatively called Strikeforce: Liberty on my Patreon page.  To generate characters that will interact in this project, I have taken 31 names from the Public Domain Super Hero Wiki as prompts and will create one each day for the month of May.  If you donate to RAINN here, you may ‘sponsor’ one of those names and will get a chance to put your own spin on the character, or you may give me a name of your own devising for me to make a character instead.

You’ll notice these characters are all female, some transgendered.  I do this because I like women, and like seeing women in hero costumes.  You’ll also notice that these characters are going to be from very diverse backgrounds racially.  I do this because I like reading about characters from backgrounds other than mine own--Hell, I would find it boring to write only about white guys in late middle age.  If you find this objectionable, then this month is not for you.

I am still looking for artists who are willing to donate a little time to make a sketch--it doesn’t have to be an elaborate finished product--visualizing these guys.  I don’t want to present a parade of Hero Machine’d lookalikes.  If you’d like to participate, please DM me through Twitter (@NocturneTomDeja).

If you are a Domicile of Dread Patreon, you’ll get a short podcast discussing the creation process for each character.  If you’d like to hear these podcasts and can spare at least a dollar a month to support my efforts to Make The World Stranger, go here to sign up.

Please enjoy, and please donate.

This is a brain in a jar...not The Deathless Brain.
THE DEATHLESS BRAIN

Name: Not applicable
Location: Wherever It Damn Well Needs To Be
Occupation: Leader of the Serpentine Criminal Network

Sometimes, Hate is all you need.

Before the various tribes of humanity huddled together to build the earliest of civilizations, there was the Yigon.  They were cold blooded, reptilian things that worshiped an unholy snake god.  They preyed upon the developing warm blooded mammals until a specific race of pale-skinned humanoids united the tribes to exterminate them...

But even though the bodies of the Yigon were destroyed by blade, by stone, by fire...the hatred they had for the so-called ‘men’ survived.

And what resulted became known in whispers as ‘The Deathless Brain.’

The Deathless Brain is an entity of psychic energy that embodies the totality of the Yigon race.  It has lived in the shadows, watching its natural enemies rise and fall and rise again.  It learned how to temporarily psychically inhabit warmbloods, using their bodies to get things done in a long term agenda to bring its enemies to heel.  Of late, those efforts have included the creation of Serpentine, a criminal organization that has now become a terrorist organization.  It can usually be found at one of numerous Serpentine outposts and fronts, utilizing one of a number of warmblood bodies it has prisoner to allow it to interact with the material world.

It is ready to end us as we ended it all those eons ago....and it’s has plenty of time.

Next week, there will be a rendition of The Deathless Brain from the creator of Complex City, Jeff Smith.

Next: It’s time to roll out with the hard rocking, hard punching Blonde Bomber!
