Meanwhile, Over At Dread Media....#640
This week our theme is very simple: films with the word 'gothic' in its title! First up, Des and I dive headfirst into the carnival of insanity that is Ken Russell's filmography by reviewing his classic retelling of the night Frankenstein was created...at least that's what Ken says... 1986's Gothic! There's nudity, drug use, and the presence of Timothy Spall just to emphasize how impossibly pretty this cast is! Then, to memorialize the passing of legendary character actor Michael J. Pollard, I examine one of his more peculiar horror roles in the 1988 hicksploitation sorta kinda slasher from Canada (they say it's Seattle, but we all know better...) American Gothic!
The trailers are below, as are an interview with Russell, William Freidkin talking about another of Russell's movie, The Devils, an interview with Michael J. Pollard and music from Elton John (in a video directed by Russell!) and Xandria
